Well the boys have settled back into school life remarkably well. They are working well on all tasks and are enjoying what they are doing.
We have had a very productive 2 weeks of term 2 with homework being completed on time - boys are showing excellent time management and organisational skills with regard to this.
Along with homework, class work has really improved. The boys are really trying hard to improve their handwriting skills, setting out of work and the content of what they write. All very positive!
This week and next:
- NAPLAN is here!
- Please don't worry too much about the NAPLAN - the boys are all coping with it admirably
- As I have said from the beginning of the year the boys and I have approached it in a manner that is not threatening and if we can say - FUN!
- I have emphasised that the NAPLAN is just like any other test and it will have some tricky questions to try and catch them out but nothing that they can't handle.
- Over the last few weeks we have looked at how to answer questions and what NAPLAN will look like
- This week we will actually be working through NAPLAN booklets from previous years. This will allow the boys to become familiar with the structure/ format of the assessment and hence it will not be so daunting when they do see it next week. We will aim to do some work on the NAPLAN each day - nothing to strenuous though.
- SO let your son approach the assessment in their own way.
- Remember that the assessment is not the be all and end all of assessments!
If you have any queries please let me know.
Kind regards,
Nesha
